Earlier this year, we become the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC)'s only energy supplier member and now we are joining forces with them for a new partnership that will drive sustainable innovation, policy influence, and business growth across the built environment sector.
This collaboration aligns us with the UKGBC’s powerful network of around 700 sustainability-focused organisations, including developers, local authorities, contractors, and financial institutions; a high-impact platform for advancing climate action in construction.
“Decarbonising the built environment is a mouthful and it’s a big challenge,” Ecotricity Founder Dale Vince OBE said. “We’re fortunate to have UKGBC driving this agenda for many years, and we’re looking forward to this collaboration and being able to bring our three decades of green innovation and experience in the energy sector to the party.”
“This partnership exemplifies the collaboration we need to decarbonise the built environment. Ecotricity brings decades of innovation in renewable energy, an essential part of reducing operational carbon in buildings. By combining their expertise with our network’s drive for whole-life carbon reduction, policy influence, and sustainable construction, we’re creating a powerful platform to accelerate climate action across the sector”, Yetunde Abdul, UKGBC’s Director of Industry Transformation, added.
Key parts of the partnership include:
Thought leadership and advocacy: We will participate in UKGBC’s expert panels and task forces, including the Advancing Net Zero initiative, putting both organisations at the heart of national sustainability policymaking.
Knowledge sharing: Through joint campaigns, events, and co-branded case studies, we will jointly unlock new insights for stakeholders in the built environment sector.
Workforce upskilling: We will collaborate on training, knowledge-sharing forums, and industry events – ensuring alignment with the evolving sustainability landscape.
This partnership follows us already being the only energy supplier to be a member of the UKGBC, furthering the diversity and expertise within the network. With growing regulatory and reputational pressure pushing corporates and councils to demonstrate clear climate action and reduce emissions, this partnership will ensure those UKGBC members are best prepared to confidently demonstrate their green credentials.
In addition to the partnership, we will be running extra activity to drive forward green buildings:
A Real Time REGOs education campaign to bring our time-matched REGOs solution to the construction industry
Public sector engagement packs focused on transparency, compliance, and cost control
Collaboration at events to bring renewable innovation thought leadership to a broad audience
