This year’s Green Events & Innovations Conference (GEI18) is taking place in London next week (on 24th February). The event from our partners at A Greener Future (AGF) has over the last 18 years become one of the most important dates in the green events calendar, with more than 400 delegates from across 27 countries expected at the event.

That’s why, at Ecotricity Business, we’re platinum sponsors of the event. We are excited to get into the room at the Royal Lancaster to both share our updates on eliminating fossil fuels from live events, and to hear from AGF and the wider industry on their progress.

Here’s what’s on the agenda for this year.

Exploring solutions for a greener events sector

GEI brings together industry leaders and sustainability pioneers to explore solutions for a greener live events and entertainment sector, and this year is no different, with a programme of high-impact panel discussions, case studies and keynote talks tackling climate resilience, research tools, and innovation in sustainability. Sessions range from analysing environmental data for live events and the implications of extreme weather, to deep dives on low-emission touring, zero-carbon culture and how AI will shape future practices.

We are proud to also play a prominent role throughout GEI18. Ecotricity Business Director of Sales & Marketing Chris Organ will join a key session diving into the Live Events Energy Scheme (LEES), a partnership with AGF, LIVE and Music Venue Trust designed to accelerate access to genuinely renewable energy for venues across the UK.

Elsewhere, our founder, Dale Vince OBE, will feature in two sessions. Nature Calling will see Dale and Chris Packham dive into Ecotalk, the mobile network that is restoring nature. Dale will also take part in a session exploring how we can navigate cancel culture and boycotts whilst standing true to our values and decreasing intimidation and misinformation.

Multi-award-winning singer-songwriters Anna Calvi and David Gray will also take to the stage for GEI’s keynote session Unleashing the Power of Music in Service of the Planet.

Beyond the panel sessions, delegates can enjoy plant-based food from Forest Green Kitchen. And the day will close with a celebration of sustainability champions at the International AGF Awards.

Don’t just take our word for it. Take a look at some highlights from last year’s event.

Driving real change

Our commitment to eliminating fossil fuels from the world of live events means that GEI18 is an essential date in the diary for us. We’re actively supporting initiatives that enable greener infrastructure for live events, including:

  • Grid Faeries x Ecotricity: Our collaboration with AGF providing technical expertise and solutions for temporary power distribution at large-scale outdoor events.

  • Feeder Pillars: Accelerating activation of permanent, sustainable power points at event sites.

These innovations complement the other solutions we’ll be talking about at GEI18 and create a holistic approach to decarbonising the live events ecosystem.

At GEI18, we look forward to sharing insights and engaging with decision-makers to drive the next wave of sustainable transformation. GEI18 is more than an event; it’s a catalyst for change, and we’re proud to be part of it.
