Four members of the Ecotricity team recently took the hot seats as the judges at Stroud High School for entries to the Young Green Briton Challenge: a national programme that transforms students’ climate ideas into real-world action.
For the ‘Eco Dragon’s Den’, our team drew on their real-world expertise in green energy and sustainability. They used this to guide and challenge students on the impact and feasibility of their projects, offering constructive feedback to help sharpen each idea.
Why green education matters
At Ecotricity, we believe education must evolve to meet the needs of our planet. That means going beyond textbooks to embrace the kind of hands-on, real-world learning that comes from the Young Green Briton Challenge. The goal isn’t just to raise awareness of the climate crisis. It’s to give young people the tools, confidence and platform to create change. Supporting the Young Green Briton Challenge fits perfectly with our mission to build a greener Britain. It’s an investment in the next generation of environmental leaders, and in a cultural shift that puts sustainability at the heart of every community.
“It was a real pleasure to be involved,” our Director of Business Sales & Marketing, Chris Organ, said. “I was hugely impressed with the depth of thought that had gone into each idea. That came through not only in the presentations themselves, which were delivered to a really high standard, but also in the way the students responded to questions.
“It was clear they had properly considered the challenges and opportunities behind their ideas, which really showed the level of preparation that had gone in. It was genuinely inspiring to see that level of understanding and confidence from students; it’s a real credit to the school and to the programme.”
Stroud High School’s Geography Lead Marie Wells added: “A huge thank you to the Ecotricity team for taking part in Stroud High School’s Dragon’s Den. It was such a valuable experience for our students. It’s not something Year 8s would normally have the chance to do, and I’m so proud of them for overcoming their nerves to present to you and we are truly grateful to the Ecotricity team for giving up their time to support our students.”
Supporting the Young Green Briton Challenge
At Ecotricity, we have partnered with the Young Green Briton Challenge since 2022, by backing the programme financially and through staff time, with team members volunteering as Eco Dragons, mentors and workshop facilitators.
