Case Study
Atlantic Brewery and Distillery
For nearly two decades, Atlantic Brewery and Distillery has been proving that doing business sustainably, thoughtfully, and with genuine care for the planet is not only possible but powerful. What began as a small, self-sufficient brewery in a converted tractor shed on a Cornish farm on the outskirts of Newquay has grown into a thriving brewery, distillery, and restaurant collective – all powered by 100% green electricity from Ecotricity.
More than brewing
The brewery runs entirely on electricity, so choosing a supplier that generates clean, renewable power was essential. When Atlantic moved from its original farm location to a larger production site in Indian Queens, switching the new premises to Ecotricity was one of the first tasks on the list. This site is now a thriving distillery as well as brewery.
The brewery also operates Counter Culture, a 16-cover restaurant opened two years ago that is also powered by us.
Scaling up
Beyond energy, Atlantic is constantly innovating to reduce its footprint. The company uses 100% recycled glass bottles, composts spent grains, and avoids unnecessary packaging. Even the bottle seals are made from PLA, a plant-based, compostable alternative to plastic.
